Cycling
2nd Tuesday & 4th Thursday 10/10.30 am

We meet as a group for leisurely rides of between 15 & 25 miles, but they can be more or even less, generally between March/April and October. As far as possible we use quiet lanes and cycle paths or the canal towpath, happily walk up hills whenever necessary & no-one will be left behind. We try to fit in a coffee and/or tea stop & either take a picnic lunch or go to a pub. Members are encouraged to volunteer to lead a ride but there is no pressure to do so.

For 2017 we are continuing with our regular rides on the 2nd Tuesday of each month beginning on Tuesday 14th March. These rides will have an appointed leader and a route decided in advance. In addition, on the 4th Thursday of the month (starting in March) we are introducing a ”Turn Up & Ride”. Meet outside the main entrance to Green Park Station at 10.30am and whoever turns up on the day will agree a route

WHEN
Second Tuesday of the month – start time time varies, usually between 10 & 10.30am.
Fourth Thursday of the month – meet outside the main entrance to Green Park Station at 10.30am for a “Turn Up & Ride”.

WHERE

Tuesday rides begin at various locations in Bath depending on where we’re going and could be at the start of the Two Tunnels at Bloomfield, the beginning of the Railway Path at Brassmill, Green Park Station or the canal. Those of us who live out of Bath often arrange to join the group at a convenient place en route. Occasionally we take our bikes on the train or by car for a ride further afield, for example to Yatton for a ride along the Strawberry Line or Cardiff for the Taff Trail. We contact all our members with ride details by email where possible, otherwise by text message.

We welcome new members. You don’t need to be an experienced cyclist but please do make sure both you and your bicycle are fit to cycle, especially if you don’t take regular exercise. You must also be a member of Bath U3A and bring your membership card with you on your first ride with us.
