Walking is an excellent way to keep healthy and flexible and to meet with like minded people. The Hiking Group is a very friendly and lively group and you are certain to make new friends..
Walks take place once a month on the THIRD TUESDAY. During the Summer and early Autumn we start in the morning with a break for a picnic lunch or a pub stop. In the Winter we walk in the mornings and usually stop at a pub or café for lunch.
When on British Summer Time our walks are generally about 5 to 6 miles long. During the Winter (GMT) we walk for about 4 miles. A reasonable level of fitness is required because some of the walks are quite strenuous with stiles, ascents and descents of varying levels of difficulty.
Usually the walks are circular, starting and ending at the same point and are always accessible by bus. For members who want to come by car there is always parking available nearby, but there may be a charge for this. Occasionally we do a linear walk, with each end accessible by bus.
