Monthly Talk 5th May 2022

LANDSCAPE DESIGN IN AN AGE OF CLIMATE CHANGE

SPEAKER: Andrew Grant

Today's speaker is Andrew Grant, a director of the pioneering Bath based Landscape Architecture Firm, Grant Associates.

One of the firm’s aims is to steer people towards nature based solutions to landscape design problems, reconnecting them with nature in insightful, delightful and distinctive ways whilst addressing the global challenges of urbanisation, the climate crisis and biodiversity extinction.

The firm sprang to prominence with their award winning Gardens by the Bay project in Singapore. Currently they are working on international projects in Madagascar, Australia and China, and in the UK on projects in Bristol, Sheffield, the HS2 rail line and Chelsea flower show – gold medal.

The speaker is one of the founding members of “UK Landscape Architects Declare”. With Cop26 in mind, he says -
“If we don’t change the way we think, plan, design and act, then the world as we know it will be gone. I think we are all trying to figure out how we as individuals, landscape practices and institutions, can respond to this crisis.”

It will be an interesting talk.
