FARMING IN GLOUCESTERSHIRE - THE CHANGES AND CHALLENGES

I grew up on an agricultural college in Warwickshire where my father was the farm manager. I gained a degree in agriculture from Reading University where I also met my wife, Karen. I started working for Karen's parents at Hazlecote Farm in 1991 and we became partners in the farming business in 2000.
The farm is solely arable with malting barley grown for Molson Coors, milling wheat for Warburtons and Oilseed Rape. The farm is also in the Higher Level Stewardship scheme, combining environmental benefits that work alongside food production.
In my talk on Farming in Gloucestershire - the changes and challenges, I hope to explain how we produce food each year on our family farm whilst caring for the environment and how things over the years have changed the way we run our business.
